Alex Fisher is an art historian from Buffalo, New York based in Kyiv, Ukraine. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he has assisted in the Studios of Andy Goldsworthy and David Levinthal, served in the Office of the Deputy Director at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and on the Press Team at COMME des GARÇONS, led archival initiatives for the Estate of Ana Mendieta via Galerie Lelong & Co., curated Yoko Ono’s “Wish Tree for Peace” (1996/2018), and coordinated Benoît Lachambre’s “Fluid Grounds” (2017-) at Wanås Konst. He has spent the past year researching Ukrainian contemporary art as a Fulbright scholar affiliated with Mystetskyi Arsenal and IZOLYATSIA. In Ukraine, he has supported and collaborated on projects with ANTON BELINSKIY, the Museum of Kharkiv School of Photography, Asortymentna Kimnata, House of Europe, Gurtobus, and the Ukrainian Photographic Alternative. In 2021, he will curate an exhibition of Ukrainian contemporary art querying myths of memory at Kristianstads konsthall and Milvus Artistic Research Center. His writing has been published in Kajet Journal, THIS IS BADLAND, C-print, Blok, Flash Art Czech and Slovak Edition, TransitoryWhite, Krzak Papier, Danarti, VONO, PIN-UP, Monocle, and office, amongst others.
