Tbilisi architecture biennial
Metalab Pavilions
Kyiv, Ukraine
17.10.20
Ukrainian Pavilions of the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial – is a curatorial project of MetaLab - partner that held an open competition and is now implementing the offline pavilions of the Biennale in Ukraine. A mobile exhibition of selected works will be shown in three different cultural institutions:
- Promprylad in Ivano-Frankivsk
- Pavilion 13 in Soviet Expo-Center in Kyiv
- Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture in Dnipro.
These three institutions are situated in three different parts of Ukraine (west, center, and east). All these institutions aim to develop local culture, architecture, contemporary art, and music scenes. All these institutions are in their development phase (under construction, or partly reconstructed) and it will take years till these projects are finished and start working at their full scale. What do they have in common it’s their bottom-up development. In Ukraine (like in most of the post-soviet countries) support of cultural development provided by the government is not that strong. The projects we want to involve in TAB grow up from self-organized initiatives and communities, which produce the program to develop cultural scenes of their cities for years and now finally build physical places for their activities.
With this curatorial project MetaLab is starting the research of Social and ano-Frankivsk, Ukraine
Environmental Impact Assessment in the community-led urban development projects.
