Dicho

Dicho is a meeting space tailor-made for new forms of digital entrepreneurship. Two “streaming pools”, small pavilions with blue surfaces and streaming devices, were located in Milan and Tbilisi, defining the space for a confrontation between young designers and a new generation of digital content creators.
What happens to public spaces after the pandemics? Flattened to the domestic dimension, the house has become the backdrop for any kind of human activity.
Suddenly, the open space of each city becomes redrawn by a globally accepted code of protocols that prevent physical interactions and forbid commuting within cities, states, and the continents. The common space becomes residual, not relevant, yet incredibly resonating with the condition of reclusion.
Squares and streets of every city have become the same, regardless geographic positions, being visited just by the black screen of the digital paraphernalia colonizing our domestic habitat.
The project reflects on the condition of displacement and pulverization of our cities after the pandemics.
Dicho is a neutral and non-local public space. Situated in two locations, one in Tbilisi and one in Milan, both hubs activate under-used public spaces like courtyards through an elementary device: a simple structure wrapped in chroma-key textiles. Used by YouTubers, twitch streamers, and zoomers, chroma-keying is a simple but effective act to evade from one’s location.
Activities including impromptu lectures and debates on ordinary life was recorded in real-time by a camera and aired through a curated stream of footage and images, transferring and mixing elements from one site to the other.
