The project asks: what can a broken pipe, through physical and material experimentation, teach us about the future of Arsenal as a common ground, and the future of reclaiming the commons in Tbilisi? Can collective desire and small-scale actions overcome the paralysis of pessimism to reveal and manifest new commons? Can our studio practice co-evolve with the Arsenal site, lead us in new directions, visions, questions, while grounding us to a real place?

The physical project affords us new methods, conversations, interactions in how we sense and process landscape; feeling the weight of a stone and the resistance of compacted ground: earthwork. A respite from the ruts of scaled studio practice: think-sketch-model-design-handoff, to open-ended variations at one to one: daydream-move-assemble-gather-scatter-channel-disassemble-revel.

The physical project will co-evolve this wetland, amplifying and defining this collective oasis, together instigating daily practices and processes of editing, cleaning, rearranging, and constructing, directing flows and channeling energy. Materials and resources include: source(water), the durable artifacts of the military installation: walls, foundations, cisterns, the reproductive materials of the plants: seeds, stolons, cuttings, and the scattered remnants of the barracks waste materials.
